Even simpler instructions for use:

Enable the plugin
In another browser,display the page you wish to change the layout of
View the html source [View->Page Source in Firefox]or [View-> Source in Internet Explorer]
Copy the source and open it in your favorite html editor
Thensearch the html textfor some keyword that is contained in your module output
Scroll up and find the html comment begin module
Edit the code within the comment beginning and ending

The Corehack system plugin modifies,yet separately maintains, the module helper and component view, when enabled. In other words, it hacks the core files, but it stores the hacked files in seperate directories. So it doesn't overwrite the files - if you uninstall the plug in you aren't left with hacked files.

Core function is not deleted AND is rehacked on every run so that when you upgrade your Joomla installation this plugin will continue to function.

Note: after running the first time, you can view the corehack folder in the system plugins folder and see what files are being used by corehack

This module MUST be the first plugin run or other plugins may override its ability to override core functionality.

Future Development Roadmap:

Respond to change/clarification/bugfixes
Figure out chrome function a bit better and determine if it can be more meaninful
Add component to maintain core hack settings and allow for additional core hacks to be added without plugin modification
Save the version of core files hacked so they aren't rehacked on every run
Move to using regexp rather than string replace
Add option use core hacks only if logged on as admin(?or specify user or maybe use keyword since we run before many things are initialized?)

This plugin uses the Silk icon library for the optional icon flags, http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/silk/
